Due to the very cold winter leg warmers made a big comeback this season. Favoured by everyone from fashionistas, mums, kids and teenagers and even dads resort to the black leg warmers instead of not very desired long johns. It was in 70s and 80s when Jane Fonda made the leg warmers hot during her exercise videos. More of the fashion statement than a part of clothing it has had a huge come back as a staple part of the winter wardrobe. The key to leg warmers is to wear it over the tights in a different colour but not contrasting, so the bright pink leg warmers will look the best worn over nude or tan tights but if you choose browns and beige or black and white you can mix and match.

The other trend that has been back in fashion are over knee socks. Prada’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection of Prada showcasing models in the thick ribbed over knee socks validated this trend and all the highs street brands followed. The over knee socks in this season should be ribbed preferably opaque made out of thick cotton or wool.

Toeless over knee socks are type of leg warmers and over knee socks combined into one. The advantage of the toeless socks is that they can be worn over the shoes with no problem of trying to squeeze thick socks into your tiny Jimmy Choos. Also socks worn over the shoes will elongate your legs- always a good tip for looking taller and slimmer.

The focus on legs and fashion hosiery in 2010 has led to another big revival – hold ups. Traditionally seen as a part of sexy nightwear hold ups have become an alternative hosiery option for ladies. The choice on the market is much greater than in the past and offers great thick opaque hold ups with reinforced silicone band that stay on all the time. Also the fashion trends like animal print has been transferred and visible on the hold ups. So are the patterns of all kinds including flower, tattoos and even bandage as seen on the Wolford hold ups worn by Cheryl Cole.

Patterned Hold ups Susan by Fiore available at Itsocks at £9.25

Welcome to the lastest edition of the itsocks Autumn/Winter update
What’s hot?
Opaque coloured tights are a big trend for the Autumn/Winter 2010. One of the designers that embraced this trend is Jean Paul Gaultier.
The collection showed in Paris Fashion Week was inspired by the traditional folk costumes from different countries all over the world. Featuring bold colours, prints and embroidery. Jean Paul Galtier’s designs also included coloured tights in many bright hues like red, green, turquise and orange.
Itsocks.co.uk offers Tights Kaya 40den in many bright colours : red, green and yellow and many more at just £3.99 they are a perfect fashion fix for your wardrobe.

Representing an opposite fashion direction Giambattista Valli presented his Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 collection.
Catwalk was full of classic and sexy clean cut dresses worn with black semi opaque tights.
Even the light beige dress suit was accessorised by black tights creating a catchy contrast.
Check out Tights with decorative undergarment Klara 20Den or for a more opaque finish I recommend Black Opaque Tights Rosalia 60Den

Alexander Wang ‘s Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 collection combined 2 trends of leg wear: over knee socks and leggings worn over the shoes over shoes.
Black opaque toeless over knee socks provided a contrast with a smart fitted suit with rounded collars- very sexy combination indeed.

To imitate this look we recommend either Toeless over knee socks Arabella by Veneziana at just £6.95 or Black Over Shoe leggings Riyo 04 By Gatta at £9.99
Prada’s collection Autumn/Winter 2010-2011 was inspired by the feminie silhouette with waist pinching dresses and coats derived from 50s fashion trends. But there were also present designs with a clear inspiration from the 60s with short simple empire line and coats and A line skirts. Tights and socks were a big part of the collection. Thick woolen ribbed tights and foldover knee highs worn with sandals and court shoes complemented the garments. Tights were mostly grey with black with contrasting brights colour shoes.

Prada’s – Catwalk To copy this look Itsocks.co.uk recommends- Grey Ribbed hold ups Air Costina at £13.99
or Grey Herringbone Tights Indira 90Den at £19.99 both by Veneziana. Alternatively if you are looking for knee highs- black and red Knee highs Lin by Fiore at £3.20 are a great pick

Tattoo tights will be a big success this season thanks to Chanel launching a new trend for tattoo body art.
See the picture of some Chanel body art tattoos at the back of the legs

Chanel's latest tatto look
you can’t help noticing the resemblance of our own
lovely flower tattoo by “Sherry Ann 03″. without the
hassle of applying body tattoo transfers.

Chanel ready to wear collection Spring Summer 2010 also featured models wearing white tights with heavy clogs.
It creats a great contrast and the purity and lightness of white tights making chunky clogs look quiet elegant.
We will definitely see clogs worn with floral print dresses and summer skirts or even leggings in upcoming summer season.

Also another trend brought by Chanel are black tights with white tattoos

You can find this type of trend at Itsocks.co.uk – just see tights Nila by Fiore.
As seen below.

My personal favourite tattoo tights are the “No 406 Tattoo Tights” by Lores, which is also one of our biggest sellers this season.

Welcome to the first of many Itsocks.co.uk blogs, where you can find out about the newest trends in fashion especially what is cool in the world of hosiery and accessories.
We have launched the blog page during London Fashion Week and the first 3 days shows have been fantastic. For the Spring/Summer 2010 there have been loads of bright colours and patterns, feminine dresses worn with coloured socks caught my eye.
Betty Jackson used bright colours socks worn with sandals to make knee length dresses look modern and cool.

Louise Grey also used bright orange socks worn under high heel sandals to make grey dungarees look more feminine. It seems that this look combines a comfort with glamour and is definitely going to transfer to high street fashion.

Louise Grey Spring Summer 2010
PPQ Spring Summer collection was influenced by the tribal African look with geometric prints fabrics and simple design halterneck dresses. The designers have also used bright colour socks to create a flow from dress to the colourful shoes, making the whole outfit look well finished.

A great selection of colour socks are coming to itsocks soon.
